PRTG version 22.2.77 is now available in the stable release channel and comes beside a new Python distribution, a security improvement for maps and an update for all language files with many changes behind the scenes.

With this version we deliver a new Python distribution. Python distribution 3.9.12 includes security patches, for example CVE-2021-3177, and several other improvements. This only affects you if you use the Python Script Advanced sensor.

PRTG will notify you upon updating with a ticket and we also created a Knowledge Base article with the most important things to consider:

Security - Image upload for maps

We added a validation for the image upload in maps that minimizes a potential risk in uploading files with arbitrary content. In previous versions, authenticated users with privileges to add maps could upload files with arbitrary content because PRTG did not check the file content but only the file extension. This file could be used in Local File Inclusion attacks.

Additionally, all language files that we deliver with PRTG were updated and you can now generate PDF reports when logged in with single sign-on.

Besides that, the stability of some sensors (for example, Modbus and Redfish) has been improved.
