I regularly tell you here about the changes in the PRTG versions and the new sensors and features the software provides.
Besides PRTG Network Monitor and our Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor there is also the client software PRTG Desktop and PRTG mobile apps for Android and iOS. All these products are continuously maintained by our developers, and today I want to show you what has changed this year in the PRTG apps for iOS and Android.
With PRTG for iOS or Android you can do nearly everything you can do in the PRTG web interface: For example, acknowledge alarms, pause and resume sensors, set priorities and favorites, scan your network status instantly, work with the ticket system, and edit object comments. You can also access reports, send them as PDFs via email or print them with AirPrint.
The most exciting new feature of the iOS app is the widget customization. The app now offers a Global Status Widget with the possibility to select an account stored in the app. If you tap on this widget you will be forwarded directly to the respective PRTG account.
If you press and hold the widget and then select "Edit Widget", the configuration menu appears. There you can configure the account, decide if you want to show or hide sensors with unknown status, and also set the update interval of the widget in the update frequency stepper.
With the channel value / graph widget, you have the option to display the information of an individual sensor as a widget. By tapping on it, you can directly access the selected sensor.
To add individual sensor information to a widget, simply tap and hold on the "channel or graph of the sensor" in the sensor view and select the option "Add to widget".
A look at the changelog shows further innovations:
PRTG for iOS requires iOS 11.0 and watchOS 2.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
In PRTG's Android App we had already introduced the widget function in an earlier version. After the initial release we received customer feedback that the default transparency of the widgets was not suitable for all backgrounds. We fixed this; starting with version 20.3.0 you can adjust the transparency of PRTG widgets in the widget background opacity setting.
In addition, the app now indicates that the widgets will only update automatically if Battery Saver Mode is not active.
Again, I would like to share the changelog with additional improvements with you:

If you centralize the management of mobile devices in your company, you might also want to distribute the monitoring apps PRTG for Android and PRTG for iOS via MDM (mobile device management). For this purpose, we provide the APK (Android application package) and the IPA file of our Android and iOS apps.
For all further details, including download files and instructions, read our knowledge base article "Can I use PRTG for Android and PRTG for iOS with MDM solutions?".
