Changing Requirements for Our PRTG Mobile Apps

Written by Matt Barringer | Feb 11, 2015

Our mobile apps have always had requirements for the minimum version of PRTG that they can connect to, with Android and Blackberry requiring 13.1, iOS requiring 12.1, and Windows Phone requiring 13.3. We’re changing those requirements this year, so if you’ve been connecting to an older PRTG release with your smartphone, you should prepare for the change!

Changes to Our Mobile Apps

Beginning on May 1st 2015,

  • PRTG for Android
  • PRTG for Blackberry
  • PRTG for Windows Phone

will only connect to a server running PRTG 14.1.1 or higher. You can continue to use the latest versions of the apps until then, but future versions of all three of those apps will no longer connect to servers running PRTG 13.x. At the same time, beginning on May 1st 2015,

  • PRTG for iOS

will only connect to a server running PRTG 13.1.1 or higher. You can also continue to use the latest versions of the app until then, but future versions will no longer connect to servers running PRTG 12.x. Additionally, the next version of PRTG for iOS, which will be version 15.1.10, will be the last that can run on iOS 6. Future versions will require at least iOS 7.

We highly recommend that you regularly upgrade your PRTG server, both to take advantage of improved security as well as the additional features that newer versions offer. However, if you are not able to do that and still want to use the mobile clients, we recommend that after May 1st 2015, you no longer update the apps. In this case you may need to deactivate automatic app updates on your mobile devices, as we regularly release updated versions through the app stores. Unfortunately we are not able to offer older releases in any of the app stores.
