Many hospitals have different locations. An important feature of PRTG is the remote probes. With remote probes, it's possible to monitor several networks of geographically separated hospitals, using only a single PRTG license. Another feature in PRTG is the user-defined REST sensor. It allows the administrator to easily integrate all devices that offer a REST API into PRTG. These could be refrigerators, sensors for monitoring temperature, humidity, air quality, and building security applications.

In PRTG the REST Custom sensor and the data protocols, DICOM and HL7, have been enhanced to make centralized monitoring even easier for the healthcare sector. Patient data is managed and transmitted via HL7. PRTG uses HL7 to ensure secure data transfer and to monitor the computers involved. PRTG has no access to personal data. Only data type, path, data volume, and device status are monitored.
Of course, all functions for data acquisition, storage and evaluation in the medical technology sector can be used just as easily as in the classic IT network. Individual threshold values can be defined and then in the event of a failure, corresponding alarms can be sent. This allows significantly more flexibility and peace of mind.
